日本代购-「ノニ」の万能薬としての可能性 西垣敏明　著　文庫サイズ・48頁 まえがき　——　ガン予防から抗菌・鎮痛作用、ダイエット、美肌まで 皆さんは、「ノニ」という植物をご存じでしょうか。 初めてこの名を耳にされる方も少なくないのではないでしょうか。 というのも、ノニはインドネシアを原産として、南太平洋の島々やハワイ、フィリピン、マレーシアなどといった熱帯地域に自生している植物で、わが国ではわずかに沖縄地方と小笠原諸島だけに見られるという、私たち日本人にはあまり馴染みのない植物だからです。 それに加え、このノニが薬用植物としてわが国に紹介されてから、まだ数年しかたっていないという事情もあるかと思います。 私が初めてこのノニと出合ったのは、四年前（平成十一年）、インドネシアの地においてでした。 首都ジャカルタ近郊のボゴール市に滞在していた折、大学時代の友人から風変わりな果物を紹介されたのです。 それが、ノニでした。 ボゴール市内の民家を訪ね、庭先に植えてあるノニの木も見ました。 私はこの熱帯産の果実に強く惹かれるものを感じ、健康食品や医薬品としての有用性について研究するようになりました。 そのための機関として、平成十三年に「東京ノニ研究所」を発足させ、それ以後現在に至るまで、インドネシアや日本の大学などの研究機関と共同研究を行なっています。 ノニの原産地であるインドネシアにおいては、それ以前から官民ともに熱心にノニの研究が続けられてきました。 というのも、インドネシアには、約五〜六〇〇〇年も前からノニを医薬品のように利用してきた歴史があるからです。 インドネシアの伝統治療薬「ジャムゥ」の一つとして、いろいろな症状の治療・改善のために使用されてきたのです。 しかし、医学・薬学の発展に伴い合成医薬品が普及し始めると、ほかの薬用植物同様、あまり見向きもされなくなりました。 そうした不遇な時代が久しく続くのですが、合成医薬品の安全性への不安、医療における健康食品の活用などといった点から、ノニに再び注目が集まるようになりました。 その結果として、前述したように、インドネシアにおいてノニの研究が熱心に行なわれることとなったのです。 現在、インドネシアにおいては、ノニは政府がその有用性を認める医薬品として、多くの人たちの健康維持・増進のために大きな役割を果たしています。 そうしたインドネシアでの豊富な臨床例や基礎研究、あるいは日本における利用者の体験例、私たちの共同研究の結果などから、ノニには幅広い多様な薬理作用のあることが改めて確認されました。 まさにノニは、万能薬といえるほど多岐にわたってさまざまな疾患に対して効果を発揮します。 その一部をあげれば、ガンや糖尿病をはじめとする生活習慣病、アレルギー性疾患、歯痛や生理痛、そして便秘やダイエットにも効果があります。 このように、多くのすぐれた作用をもつノニは、わが国においても利用者が増えつつありますが、まだまだ知られていないというのが現実です。 本書によりノニの素晴らしさを知って、少しでも健康増進のために役立ててくださるならば、これほどうれしいことはありません。 目　次　—— 第1章　ノニって、ナニ？ 　　　・ノニは熱帯の薬用植物 　　　・いろいろあるノニの伝統的な利用法 第2章　ノニジュースの薬理作用 　　　・便秘解消からガン予防まで 　　　・便秘解消とダイエット効果 　　　・すぐれた抗菌効果と鎮痛作用 　　　・免疫力アップとアレルギー抑制作用 　　　・血圧や血糖値を正常に保つ 　　　・活性酸素を除去する 　　　・抗変異原作用と延命効果 　　　〈コラム〉「フルーツの女王」はどれ？ 第3章　ノニジュースの症状別利用法 　　　・ノニジュースの一般的利用法 　　　・インドネシアにおける症状別利用法 　　　・どのようなノニジュースがよいのか 　　　・ノニを利用したお茶や生活用品 【ハート出版ふるさと文庫】熱帯産“薬用果実”ノニの熟成パワー
