日本代购-ネッビオーロやバルベーラに比べ早熟で冷涼な土地でも栽培ができるドルチェット。真菌の病気に弱く、蕾が折れやすい。長期の寒波により十分な成熟を得られないこともある。また近年のネッビオーロの取引価格の高騰により作付面積は減少している。そんな現状からドルチェットの再興へ一石を投じるワインだと感じる。 熟したレッドチェリー、ブラックチェリーからドライプラムまで非常に幅広い香りを持つ。さらにダージリンのような茶葉を思わせる深さ、全房由来のシナモンやナツメグなどのスパイスが複雑さとアクセントを加える。きめ細やかなタンニンと中程度ではあるが横に広がる酸が滑らかな口当たりを作る。旨味を伴った余韻が染み入っていく。 生産地：イタリア/ピエモンテ 品種：ドルチェット100% 容量：750mlマッフレイ Maffrei 伝統的なワイン生産者の家系から兄弟で始める新たな物語  1927年から続く家族経営のワイナリー出身の兄ステファノと弟アンドレア。2021年、彼らは自分たちのワイナリー”Maffrei（マッフレイ）”を設立し新たな旅を始めた。Maは彼らの苗字Mascarello（マスカレッロ）の頭文字であり、ffreiはイタリア語で兄弟を意味するFratelliから取られている。弟のアンドレアは学校で醸造と栽培を学んだ後、ラ・モッラ村を代表するロベルト・ヴォエルツィオやチェザーレ・ブッソーロで働き経験を積んだ。 その後、マスカレッロ家のワイナリーから独立する形でマッフレイを設立。兄ステファノは結婚を機にブラジルへと移住したため、主にアンドレアがワイナリーの舵取りをしているが、ステファノも畑作業や醸造が忙しいタイミングでピエモンテに戻る生活をしている。「全てを自分たちで行うのはとても大変だけど、その分自分たちのやりたいこと、目指すものを追求できる。それは当たり前なことではないと思う。」とアンドレアは語る。 イタリアで最も偉大なワインのひとつとしてその名声を確立しているピエモンテ・バローロ。現在ピエモンテにおいて多くの新世代が台頭し、世界中が注目している。最もダイナミズムな産地のひとつと言える。彼らは偉大な先人たちから受け継いできたピエモンテ、バローロという伝統の価値を守るだけでなく、さらにその先の次元へと昇華しようとしている。ピエモンテの偉大な生産者の下や世界中で働いた経験はもちろんブルゴーニュなど他の生産地にも積極的に足を運び、様々な意見や手法を取り入れている。 マッフレイもブルゴーニュの生産者との交流が深く、よくブルゴーニュを訪れている。同時に彼らのワインに魅せられたブルゴーニュの生産者も頻繁にマッフレイを訪ねてくるという。様々な経験や考えや咀嚼したアンドレアは自身の哲学を「大事なことは土壌に語らせること、土地を表現すること。」と説明する。そのため畑ではオーガニック栽培を実践し、収穫後に翌年のために有機肥料を施肥するのみ。土壌の柔らかさを保つために機械は使用せず、すべての作業を手で行う。「目指しているのはとげとげしさのないエレガントなスタイル。昔ながらの伝統と現代の技術を融合させたい。」と語る。
