日本代购-原材料　モルト・グレーン原産地　アメリカ合衆国内容量　700mlアルコール度数　40度輸入者　キリンディスティラリー株式会社※飲酒は20歳になってから。　妊娠中や授乳期の飲酒は、胎児、乳児の発育に悪影響を与えるおそれがあります。※保存中まれにオリやにごりが生じることがありますが品質に影響はありません。サラブレッドの精鋭が競う最高峰の競馬イベント「ケンタッキーダービー」で有名な、アメリカ・ケンタッキー州。ブルーグラスエアポートと呼ばれるレキシントン空港から約40km西へ、緑豊かな牧草地帯を走るとフォアローゼズ蒸溜所が見えてきます。 蒸溜所へ向かうフリーウエイで目につくのが、「ライムストーン」と呼ばれる石灰岩層。幾重にもつらなる天然のろ過層を通り抜けたクリアな味わいの水、ライムストーンウォーターの存在こそが、上質のウイスキーを生み出す秘密のひとつなのです。 フォアローゼズの原料は、コーン、ライ麦、大麦麦芽、水、酵母（イースト）。中でもコーンは、50年以上にわたって契約しているインディアナ州の農家からクオリティの高いものを厳選。搬入されるたびに、グレーン・クオリティ・ラボラトリーと名付けられた場所で、大きさ、傷みの有無、水分含有量などを厳しく検査します。 検査を終えた原料を「ハンマーミル」という名の機械によって粉砕。それらを独自の比率で配合し、そこへライムストーンウォーターを加えて糖化槽へ。大麦麦芽の酵素のはたらきによって糖化がはじまり、糖化によって引き出された穀物の糖分は、酵母の働きによってアルコールへと変化します。 フォアローゼズ蒸溜所では、2種類のマッシュビル（穀物の配合比率）と5種類の酵母を掛け合わせて10種類の原酒を生産しています。これらの工程はコントロールルームで管理され、1日24時間、3交代制で常に2名の担当者が見守っています。いかに穀物の香味を活かし糖化を行うか、長年培った技術と経験を生かし、原料の仕込みが行われます。 発酵を見守る4日間。熟練職人の五感が冴える。 フォアローゼズのオリジナル酵母5種類は、専用の培養室で育成。木製およびステンレス製の発酵槽の中で、発酵が進んでいきます。発酵工程は4日間。酵母の働きによって、糖分がアルコールと炭酸ガスに分解されます。 つねに完全なクオリティの蒸溜液を求めて。 発酵を終えたら蒸溜の工程へ。10数メートルの高さにそびえる連続式蒸溜機「ビアスチル」の中は10数段に仕切られています。蒸気で熱して気化させ、上へ、上へと昇るほどにアルコール分と香味成分は純度を増していきます。 続いて、ユニークな形の「ダブラー」で2回目の蒸溜を行い、「ホワイトドッグ」と呼ばれる蒸溜液をテイルボックスから取り出します。アルコール度数約70％の透き通ったスピリッツの味、香り、色味がフォアローゼズにふさわしいクオリティに達しているかテイスティングを行い、出来栄えの良い蒸溜液をタンクへ移します。 この土地の激しい寒暖差が、熟成を助ける。 完成した蒸溜液は、蒸溜所から西へ約80km、コックスクリークにあるウエアハウス（熟成庫）へ移動。夏には30℃を超え、冬は−20℃まで冷え込む激しい寒暖差が、理想的な熟成を促します。 コックスクリークには21棟の熟成庫があり、1棟あたりの収容可能数は24,000樽。すべて、独自のコンピュータープログラムによって管理され、どの熟成庫の何段目にどのタイプの原酒がいくつあるか、ひとつひとつの樽が樽詰めされた年月はいつかなど、あらゆるデータが記録されています。 じっくり時をかけて、熟成のピークへ。 蒸溜液をアメリカン・ホワイトオークの新樽に詰め、熟成庫へ。クロッキングという職人技によって、必ず栓が上を向くようにラックに樽を納めていきます。 熟成の期間は通常5〜8年、ときに10年以上。熟成のピークへ向かう長い眠りの時間を経て、フォアローゼズならではの味と香り、美しい琥珀色が醸成されていきます。 気品ある香味を生む、ブレンドの魔法。 熟成のピークを迎えた10種類の原酒。樽ごとにテイスティングを行い、長年の経験と熟練の技によって、樽ごとの味や香りの特徴を見極めます。どの原酒同士を組み合わせると最高のバランスとなるか、テスト調合を繰り返し、原酒の配合比を決定。眠りから解き放たれた琥珀色の原酒は、ディスティラーのミングリング（ブレンディング）によって、フォアローゼズらしいフローラル&フルーティーなウイスキーとなります。飲酒は20歳になってから。画像はイメージです。
