Im einzelnen wird auf die Rechnungslegungsnormen des deutschen Handelsgesetzbuch (HGB), der US-amerikanischen Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US-GAAP) und der International Accounting Standards (IAS) eingegangen. Die Einf?hrung in das Thema bildet ein ?berblick ?ber die Vielfalt der Bilanzarten im betrieblichen Rechnungswesen und eine kurze Beschreibung der allgemeing?ltigen Funktion der Bilanz im Rahmen des Jahresabschlusses. Im n?chsten Schritt sind ausgehend von den unterschiedlichen Ans?tzen der o.g. Rechnungslegungssysteme die elementaren Auswirkungen auf die Bilanz dargestellt. Im Hauptteil werden formeller Bilanzaufbau und detaillierte Erl?uterungen der Hauptbestandteile der Bilanz der drei Bilanzierungsstandards einander gegen?bergestellt und verglichen. Im Anschlu? sind anhand der Konzernabschl?sse von Siemens und Volkswagen (VW) f?r einzelne Bilanzpositionen, deren bilanzielle Behandlung zwischen den Rechnungslegungssystemen, US-GAAP versus HGB, bzw. IAS versus HGB, besonders different ist, direkte Vergleiche der Ansatzkriterien dargestellt. Im Schlu?teil werden die Auswirkungen der er?rterten Unterschiede auf Jahres?berschu? und Eigenkapital aufgezeigt. Das zusammenfassende Ergebnis des Vergleichs der drei Rechnungslegungssysteme f?r den Bereich der Bilanz folgt sodann. Die Arbeit behandelt vornehmlich die Thematik des Bilanzansatzes. Der Bereich des Bilanzausweises wird aufgrund der Begrenzung auf 15 Seiten lediglich peripher tangiert.
