日本代购-サイズ（外寸） / 重さ長い：約全長19x5cm（お玉部分約7x5cm）/20g短い：約全長16.5×6.5cm（お玉部分約8×6.5cm）/30g四国は土佐の国、高知県。海のイメージが強いですが、山地率89%と言われているように、山の多い場所でもあります。海から上がれば、すぐに山が目の前にせり出し、高知市内から車で30分も離れると、あっという間に急な坂道になり、人気のない山中が現れます。そんな高知県内で、繁殖力が強すぎて地域によっては森の邪魔者とまで言われている、余りある孟宗竹。その孟宗竹を材料にし、高圧釜や炭づくりで使う炭窯に入れるという類のない工程を経て、カトラリーを製作される方がいます。その工程にデザインが加えられたそのカトラリーは、一度見たら忘れられないほどの印象を私たちに届けてくれます。私たちはその炭窯に入れる工程を経た孟宗竹に、「炭竹（すみたけ）」という愛称をつけて呼んでいます。こちらはその炭竹で作られた、料理の取分け・調理用のスプーンです。名前は「お玉サーバー」といいます。持ち手部分の、柄が長いものと短いものの、2タイプがあります。左が「長い」タイプ、右が「短い」タイプです。持ち手部分には、ヘリンボーン柄のような彫り模様が施されています。炭竹ならではの、燻されたあとの、深みのある色味が見られます。サーバーのお皿部分は、長い方が小さめ、短い方が大きめの仕様になっています。サーバーの後ろ側です。触り心地はスルッと滑らか。竹のカトラリーは、その軽さも魅力です。それぞれのタイプをご紹介します。こちらは「短い」タイプです。お皿部分が大きいので、一度にたくさん取分けたいときに。こちらは「長い」タイプです。短いタイプに比べるとお皿部分が小さいですが、一般的なスプーンに比べると少し大きめで、取分けに十分な大きさです。ご使用後に水で洗ったら、その都度よく乾かすようにしてお使いください。湿った状態でお使いになりつづけたり、食器洗浄機をご使用になったりすると、劣化を早めますのでお控えください。短いタイプは、大皿から銘々のお皿へ、おかずを取り分けるのに便利です。とてもなめらかに仕上げられたサーバーは、お皿にあたって高い音を立てたり傷つけたりすることなく、一度にたくさんのおかずをよそうことができます。長いタイプは、取分け用はもちろんですが、その柄の長さを生かして、調理道具としても活躍してくれます。持ち手が短いと、調理中に手が熱くなったり料理に手が入ってしまったりしますが、こちらの長いタイプはその心配がありません。例えばお粥作りでは、かき回す、すくう、盛り付ける、と何役も担ってくれます。どちらにもそれぞれの使いやすさがあります。どちらかお好みの形をお選びください。__下本一歩さんの竹カトラリー__金属を使わずに土と石で築き上げる炭窯作り体験に参加して衝撃を受けて以来、自身で炭窯を作り、カシやナラをメインの材料に炭焼きをされていました。その炭焼きの工程で出る大量の煙に、自身で削った竹カトラリーを吊るしていたのがきっかけで、燻した竹のカトラリー作りを本格的に始められました。物作りを続けられている理由は「竹が山を荒らしていて、人にも環境にも問題があるという状況、その素材を使ってものを作るということが嬉しい自分、作ったものを喜んで使ってくれる人、このバランスがとれていることが気持ちよくて、続けられている」とのこと。そう語る下本さんの作るカトラリーは独特の色味からくるコクのある風合いと竹だからこそできるその形が特徴です。そのカトラリーの数々は、シャープなデザインでありながら、触れると手になじんで、その使い良さに思わずニンマリしてしまいます。
